Install

This page is for the administrator. At the end of it the server is running on your machine and you are signed in to the management page.

What you need

  • A machine running Windows or Linux. The program is one file that carries everything it needs, so there is nothing else to install.
  • Internet access from that machine, to reach Google, Meta and LinkedIn.
  • A browser, for the management page.

Get the executable

You get the executable from the Nama dev team. There is no download page: the team gives you the file. It is one file:

  • nama-marketing-mcp.exe on Windows;
  • nama-marketing-mcp on Linux.

The two are separate builds. Ask for the one that matches your machine.

Put the file in a folder of its own, one that the account running it can write to, such as D:\marketing-mcp. The program keeps its settings and its database in that folder.

WARNING

Do not put it in a folder it cannot write to, such as Program Files. It still runs, but it then keeps its settings in your user profile instead, and the folder no longer holds the whole installation.

Run it

Open a terminal in that folder and run:

nama-marketing-mcp serve --open

--open opens the management page in your browser. The terminal shows where everything is:

  Nama marketing MCP
  Management page: http://127.0.0.1:8765
  MCP endpoint: http://127.0.0.1:8765/mcp
  Listening on: 127.0.0.1:8765
  Config file: D:\marketing-mcp\config.json
  Database: D:\marketing-mcp\nama-marketing.db
First run: open the management page to create the administrator account.
  Stop with Ctrl+C

Things to know about a first start:

  • It takes a little longer than later ones, because the file unpacks itself.
  • Windows or your antivirus may warn about a program it has not seen before.
  • The server answers on this machine only, at http://127.0.0.1:8765. Reaching it from other machines is a setting: see Server settings.

The server runs for as long as that terminal is open. Press Ctrl+C to stop it.

Two options change where it listens for one run, without changing what is saved:

nama-marketing-mcp serve --host 0.0.0.0 --port 9000

Create the administrator account

On a new installation the management page shows Create the administrator account.

  1. Type a Username.
  2. Type a Password of at least 8 characters, and type it again in Repeat password.
  3. Press Create account and sign in.

This first account is an administrator and has write access. It sets up the platforms, the safety limits and the other users.

WARNING

Until this account exists, anyone who can open the page can create it. Create it straight away, before you make the server reachable from other machines.

After that the page asks everyone to Sign in.

Where your settings and data live

Everything is in the folder beside the executable:

WhatHolds
config.jsonThe installation's settings: the platform apps and their secrets, the limits, the switches.
nama-marketing.dbThe users, their connections to the platforms, their tokens, the activity log, drafts and the queue.
mediaFiles that people uploaded to post.
reportsScheduled reports that were kept as files.

The bottom of the Overview page shows the two paths in use.

Because it is all in one folder:

  • Copying the folder moves the installation. Stop the server, copy the folder to the new machine and start it there.
  • Copying the folder is a backup. Stop the server first.
  • The folder is a secret. It holds the secrets of your platform apps and everyone's connections. Keep it where only the account that runs the server can read it.

Any setting can also be given as an environment variable, which then wins over config.json. That is meant for servers that are set up by script. Settings lists them.

Keeping it running

This guide covers running the program in a terminal. Keeping it running after you sign out of the machine, as a Windows service or a Linux service, is done with your operating system's own tools and is not covered here.

Keep in mind what stops while the server is off: a scheduled post waits, and so do alerts, reports and lead feeds. Scheduling says what happens to a post whose time passed.

Next

  1. Set up the platforms you use: Google, Meta, LinkedIn.
  2. Look at the limits and switches before anyone starts.
  3. Add the people who will use it.
  4. Connect an AI client.
